    The message your getting is probably because your BIOS i trying to find an OS on the disks that it can see. The main problem is that your drive isn't being seen by the BIOS. Here are the usual culprits;

    - On an IDE drives make sure you have those jumpers set properly. Make sure each is designated slave or master properly. This is for every device connected to the IDE cable (CD Drives, etc).

    - On SATA or IDE, are the cables connected properly? Some times a cable can look connected but not all the pins are making contact. Give them a slight jiggle to ensure they are working.

    - A bad cable? I had this happen twice on SATA cables. They tend to be stiffer and more open to pinching, which leads to a break in the wire. Swap cables to see if a different drive goes missing. If so you have found yourself a bad cable.

    - Dead drives. I don't think this is your issue as there would be other error messages flashing on your computer. BIOS's are usually pretty good at finding and reporting bad drives. There would be a lot of error messages flashing at boot up by the BIOS if this was the case. But that does not rule it out. If you can access the drive with a USB dock like this one -> http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N8...

    then it's not a dead drive issue and it's one of the two problems above.

    Hi There,

    the problem is that the main hard drive s not working. It could have failed in which case you will need to replace the drive with a new one or one of your other drives and reinstall the operating system.

    However before doing that open the side cover and check the data and power cable on your main drive.

    One of them may have simply have loosened causing the drive to either lose power or it's data connection. If that is the case secure the cables and you are good to go.

    Hard drives are inexpensive now in case your main drive has failed.

    Hope this helps,

    Al

    you're screwed... probably a head crash.

    try to start the computer with only that single hard drive hooked up. might get lucky.

    you will might desire to positioned the hard disk interior the laptop and then use the only from the laptop as a secondary force. so some distance as i be attentive to, you could not load onto an exterior force although you could boot from one.
