If you want to know if anyone, including a doctor, has been sued look it up at the courthouse. Every state has its own laws the one’s you mentioned are included. You can never take away anyone’s degree as they earned it. Every state has a licensing board for physicians. There are several things In place to protect the public. If you are unclear about what to do hire an attorney.

Look man, the problem with oncologists is that virtually all of their patients die. Of cancer. There is an old joke, which I don't like particularly, that says "Why do they nail coffins shut? To keep the oncologists out." So yes patient with Stage IV cancer die of the disease, inevitibly, but the job of the onocologist is twofold. To keep the patient alive and in relatively good health (quality of life) and to educate the patient on what he/she needs to do with the rest of his/her life. Cancer is a very tough disease, it is hard to treat and even harder to cure. If you really believe that your doctor was negligent, that another doctor could have done better, then your attorney will know exactly what to do. They live for this stuff. Rest assured, doctors who "kill" patients go to jail like anyone else, and doctors who are incompetent are stripped of their medical licenses. But with cancer, please realize that many, many patients die, and the oncologist feels the pain. In fact, it keeps them up at night, in their warm beds, next to their beautiful and supportive wives, that maybe there was something else they could have done. And they worry, and they drink, and they kick the dog, and they are human.
