In love scene of "Avatar," did you notice what DID NOT happen?
Over and over, the Na'vi "connect" (interface in some way) with animals and trees, using those tendrils growing out of the end of their long hair braid. But there, in the most inimate connection of all, the one where, of all times, you ought to connect at the very deepest level...James Camerson strangely leaves that out. It's apparently just regular ol' alien love-making, instead of the mystical bond that is promised by connecting their tendrils. What an opportunity lost!

I thought it was well done.
Connecting their tendrils in that moment would have seemed to hokey, almost like what would be in a typical cg kids film.
Do human beings mate through connecting their dreads together, no. It's easier to relate to that emotion when you can understand it and I understood it. Also it didn't go on to long to the point where the scene would have been awkward.

No where in the film do the Na'vi ever connect with other. If it were a way of life for them it would have been shown early in the film. They only connect wither other living things.

Do you remember that brief shot towards the beginning, where sully's playing with the end of his braid and weaver's character says: "Don't play with that, you'll go blind..." ?
