How do I choose which programs open when I start my computer?
whenever I turn on my computer a chat program i downloaded opens but I don't use it much anymore and it always slows down my computer while its opening. How do I make it not automatically open when I turn my computer on? Im running Windows 7.

Search for msconfig. Launch it. Click on the startup tab and disable the programs/scripts you don't want to be executed durring startup.
Alternatively there should be settings in your chat program that will allow you to change this. Launch the program and open properties/settings and there should be (if well designed) a startup option which you can change the status to disabled.

I'm not sure about Windows 7, but in windows XP there is a folder under "All Programs" in the start menu that is called "Start Up" just copy a shortcut to the program you want to run into that folder in the start menu and anything in that folder will automatically start once you turn on your computer!

There should be an option to run whatever program when your computer turns on. Go to the chat program and look under properties or options. If you don't want the program at all, uninstall it in control panel.

acquire ccleaner. it has an excellent startup supervisor application that shows what courses are working at startup, greater straightforward to apply than msconfig which shows each thing it is working at startup. in simple terms tick and click eliminate to end the courses you do no longer elect to start.
