If you are trying all of this and its not working, its probably a good idea to go see your doctor. I am sure you know that cold sores are a type of Herpes and they can be treated with a suppression medication like Valtrex or Acyclovier. For now, try numbing it with some ice and keep putting the medication that you have on it. I got them from my mom when I was little (yeah, thanks mom! :) I have been lucky to only have had them 3 times but the last time I got them I had 2 huge, super painful ones. I used Neosporin lip treatment for cold sores and it worked great. It also took the pain away almost as soon as I applied it. You need to be sure to get the Neosporin Lip Treatment, not the regular Neosporin. That won't work well for cold sores. But your best bet since you get them so bad and none of the OTC medications really work for you is to see your doctor.
