We'd need to know more about their previous relationship and reason for break-up to answer that. If there were no major issues like cheating, or mistreating, or disrespect or anything, then sure go for it.

She should absolutely tell the truth. What is there to lose?

One way, if she tells him the truth and it doesn't work out, then she can move on.

Another way, if she sits around worrying and never tells him, she still has to move on.

So, the only way to know anything and get something done - is to tell him her feelings.

She should invite the dude to nice place of some sort. She could spend the time just talking,

remembering old times or something.. Then later, she could tell him her true feelings.

It all comes down to how he feels about her. The only way to find out is to ask him.

Well, I'm a guy,and from my point of view,she should give it a try,but I think it mostly depends on the motive they broke up... If she is so afraid maybe you should talk with that guy and maybe it will work out for your friend.
