How can I wipe out my computer's hard drive without the CD?

So I just got a new laptop for Christmas and I'm going to give my old one to my sister but it has a lot of junk files on it that she wont need. How can I clear the hard drive so that it's like it was when I first got it if I've lost the CD it came with?

You answered your own question, delete the junk files. There are sites on the internet explaining the process. You don't need any CD, AND you don't need to go as far as to reformat it either. Using a program like "Windows Washer" does all the work for you WITHOUT A RESTORE CD.

Hah, unless your sister is an expert in computer forensics, she won't be able to retrieve your deleted files.

there's no way to get it exactly as it was when you first got it. you can either deleted anything you don't want her to have or format your hard drive (wipes out everything) and then add a new operating system to it (reinstall windows)
