My Word documents are all of a sudden DOC?
For some reason all of my Word, Excel and Powerpoint documents are not being seen with the right extension (.doc .xls or .ppt) and can't be opened. Does anyone know what happened and how to change it back?

Open your documents folder (or your whatever folder.) Right click on the document that you need and find the 'save as' option. Click it. Save it as the same name_1. (Example: slideshow_1) Then, where it says save as file type, scroll down until you find the correct file type.
I hope this helps. If not, try opening the documents using a different program and then modify them that way.

If you have a PC, use System Restore to revert settings to a date before the trouble started.
If that doesn't fix things, rightclick a Word file, Open with, and choose MS Word. Tell us what happens.

It would be useful to know what extensions they ARE being given now. And what version of Microsoft Office are you using?
Sorry I can't help more than that.
