I have Virtual Villagers 2 but none of my people survive?

Well, when you send your First Villager to Fish (Your First available Source of Food), you need to set his/her preferred Skill to Farmer on the Details Screen. Now, you need to keep on putting the Farmer into the Ocean if he/she 'Shakes his/her Head (Which means that he/she didn't succeed)' until he/she becomes a 'Trainee Farmer' which will appear if you press on the Farmer. Once you do this, the Farmer will carry on Farming until the Algae overtakes the Ocean.

Now, you need to get 5000 Tech Points and getting the Second Farming Upgrade by putting a Villager on to the Researching Table, and doing the same as you did for the Farmer (Drag and Drop him/her onto the Research Table if he/she 'Shakes his/her Head') until he/she becomes a Trainee Scientist. I personally set 2 for this Task so I could get it quicker. Once you upgrade to the Second level of Farming, you can drag your Farmer to the Coconut Trees in the North-West of the Village and he/she will climb up and get a Coconut. However, the Farmer might not succeed at getting a Coconut, so drag him/her up again.

You do not need the Third level of Farming to get the Food at the start, you can get Crops. To get Crops, you build a Dam by getting the Second level of Engineering, and then drag a Builder to 3 Rocks by the River (It will say 'You could probably build a Dam here' or something close to that) and then once the Dam is completed building, Water from the Dam will water the Crops and soon, the Crops will grow and can be Harvested.
