Why can't I fit a 4 GB file on an 8 GB flash drive?

My flash drive is in FAT32 format, and yes, I've already re-formatted it. The total space on the flash drive is 7.47 GB. It's a Cruzer micro.

The file I'm trying to put on it is a 4.37 GB .iso file. I've tried rar-ing it and then copying it over, but that doesn't work either.

Can anybody help me out here?

Update:

The message I get is:

The file 'filename' is too large for the destination file system.

I'm running Windows 7.

Under FAT32 the maximum size of any single file is 4GB. To go above that, you must format a drive with NTFS.

You can get around this limitation by using a file splitter to break the file into parts which can be reassembled into one larger file on the destination PC.
