Could my sister be in any legal trouble for calling 911?
My sister is 16 and has been going through a lot. She recently has had what is called a panic attack, it was her first one, and she thought she was dying and she was convinced she was having a heart attack.
When she gets to the hospital they rule out any heart problems and tell her that it's anxiety and they referred her to a clinic. The psychiatrist did indeed diagnose her with a panic/anxiety disorder. But now my sister is even more scared that she can get into legal trouble for calling 911 for what she believes is now a "non-emergency" since she actually wasn't dying.
I told her not to worry about it and that lots of people probably do the same thing and that she was better safe than sorry. I don't think she can get into any legal trouble, but I may be wrong?

Nope, this sort of thing happens often. She did the right thing by calling 911.

Do not worry for she thought it was an emergency. It would only be a problem if one was to call knowing full well that there was no emergency and doing it for fun or attention. Many humans who have anxiety attacks call for help and have been rushed off to the hospital for it is known to feel like a heart attack. I have a friend who has done this and there was no trouble to come.

If she called 911 for an emergency, even though it turned out to be less critical than she thought, she ha no reason to worry about the call. If you call the fire department because you see smoke coming out of the windows of a house and they find it was only a clogged flue, you acted on your best information. She won't get into trouble for acting on her best information.

She's fine, 911 is for emergencies yes, but at that moment she thought it was an emergency and it could have turned into something worse if she didn't call (she could have stopped breathing).. She's not going to get in trouble, don't worry.

no. She shouldnt get in trouble. She thought that it was an emergency at the time, so its okay.
When I was 6 I called the police on accident and asked for ice cream. Here was the convo:
"Hello police whats the emergancy"
ME:"Ummm... well I want some ice cream with some rainbow sprinkles.... and in a cone please"
THEM: "...."
Then I hung up.
I never got in trouble... I was only little though :)

They probably won't get mad. I know a lot of cops and one once did a "one man raid" into a house because a little kid thought somebody was upstairs so he called the police. Better safe than sorry.

I'm not 100% sure, but if she sincerely thought something was wrong, even though there wasn't, she won't get in trouble. . That would be wrong if she gets in legal trouble.

Lived in California maximum of my existence. i grew to become into consistently instructed the age is 12. in spite of the incontrovertible fact that, i don't think of that's a not hassle-free and quickly rule. curiously, the honour has greater to do with if the youngster looks able to being on their own for a constrained volume of time. Your CHP uncle is crammed with it. It jogs my memory of an IRS agent I as quickly as knew that instructed me i could owe a team of fines for submitting Exempt, while it grew to become into completely criminal to do.... and that i purely had to respond to the IRS question with the truthful certainty. lack of awareness exists in all occupations.
