---------------> Am I experiencing ZINC POISONING? Please help!!!! <--------------------?
I'm 16 and about a month ago I started taking one 50mg zinc supplement tablet at night to clear up some acne. Your supposed to take it on a full stomach, and I usually take it about 1-2 hours after I have eaten. If you take it on an empty stomach its supposed to make you vomit. I never felt that I was going to vomit, until recently. I have been staying up late these nights and so after I take the tablet I would stay up another 2-3 hours. So I have been sleep deprived. And I'm not sure about this, but when your body is tired then its metabolism is also low right? So I'm not sure all of the zinc is being metabolized (if heavy metals such as zinc are even metabolized in the first place). But I have not cut back on my zinc intake, so lately I've been feeling like I'm going to throw up. I also started experiencing lots of joint pain today, and I think this has a direct correlation to the fact that I only got 2 and a half hours of sleep last night and I still took that zinc tablet.
So do these seems like the signs to zinc poisoning? Or is it just my lack of sleep that is making me sick? Please don't tell me to "go see my doctor" because I already plan to, I just need to know right now though because I want to change my habits right away.
Oh and I don't drink or anything so that shouldn't be affecting anything.
Thanks in advance.

Probably not...I found a really interesting page on it all though, if you'd like to read it, here are the highlights and the link:
Health Risks from Excessive Zinc
Zinc toxicity can occur in both acute and chronic forms. Acute adverse effects of high zinc intake include nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, abdominal cramps, diarrhea, and headaches [2]. One case report cited severe nausea and vomiting within 30 minutes of ingesting 4 g of zinc gluconate (570 mg elemental zinc) [78]. Intakes of 150–450 mg of zinc per day have been associated with such chronic effects as low copper status, altered iron function, reduced immune function, and reduced levels of high-density lipoproteins [79]. Reductions in a copper-containing enzyme, a marker of copper status, have been reported with even moderately high zinc intakes of approximately 60 mg/day for up to 10 weeks [2]. The doses of zinc used in the AREDS study (80 mg per day of zinc in the form of zinc oxide for 6.3 years, on average) have been associated with a significant increase in hospitalizations for genitourinary causes, raising the possibility that chronically high intakes of zinc adversely affect some aspects of urinary physiology [80].
The FNB has established ULs for zinc (Table 3). Long-term intakes above the UL increase the risk of adverse health effects [2]. The ULs do not apply to individuals receiving zinc for medical treatment, but such individuals should be under the care of a physician who monitors them for adverse health effects.

I would highly recommend that you stop taking the zinc tablets until you figure out if they are the source of the problem. Clearing up your acne is not worth making yourself sick! If you are planning on seeing a doctor anyways, why not hold off on taking the tablets until you get some proper medical advice? If you really don't like feeling sick, you should try to get more than a couple of hours of sleep each night!

Zinc doesn't clear up acne...
So stop taking it - it doesn't sound like zinc poisoning...your doctor can rule that out...but plenty of folks take more and don't have effects within a month...
Just stop taking it
Sounds like you slept like crap and youre spazzing out because of that - too little sleep makes people emotionally as well as physically worn out
