I think we've come to an understanding that if the woman put the seat down when they use it, I will put it up when I pee.

When are we going to take a leaf out of the cistern book of the New Zealanders and Australians?
I'm impressed with their design of cistern where the twin flush button on the tank is behind the lid - you have to put the lid down in order to depress the flush button.
So simple!
As mentioned previously, effluent particles are shot approximately 6' into the air by the force of water when the flush is operated and this is inhaled and deposited over the clothes of the person using the WC. Nice thought if they are then going on to prepare food, as in a restaurant or even at home!!

Mine stays down at all times, even the lid..FYI, did you know when you flush with the lid up you are spreading bacteria all over the bathroom and beyond? All the water droplets fly into the air and stick to the walls and ceiling so when it's humid the germs breed. What a thought hey?? I recommend putting your toothbrush away in the cabinet.

Flushing causes particles to disperse into the air with the mist from the water. Seats and lids stay down. It's my house. Case closed.

Nope. My husband has never had that problem. He's always put the seat back down. I think it was a rule in his household growing up. There was all boys and his mother was the only female, lol.
