can I give my 2 lb puppy round worm meds for cats?
I just got a puppy that is chiuahua ( very small dog).. She has round worms and the only medication I have is for cats.. The instructions read 1/2 tsp for every 5 lbs of cat.. this dog maybe weighs 1 1/2 lbs if that .. Can I give the cat meds to my dog? if so how much do I give her.. ?

NO! DON'T GIVE YOUR DOG MEDS MADE FOR A CAT! Take the pup to your vet & get the proper meds for a PUPPY!

Worming puppies is a delicate job - you have to ensure that you don't over worm them otherwise it will be less effective. When you worm any dog that has worms the wormer will do it's job and kill the worms already present in the dog/puppy's system. The body then rids these worms which is why you can now see them in her poo's. To help prevent worms in the future puppy's should be wormed every two weeks until they are 2-3 months old and then you should worm them every 3 months thereafter. Therefore do not fret at seeing the worms as they are better out than in !! Make sure you follow the instructions on the wormer you are using - if it says worm again in 2 weeks then do that and you are doing the best that you can for the little woofer ! All the best and just relax and enjoy the little bundle of love x

I wouldn't give your pup the meds. Im not an expert, but i think that the medications would react differently when inside the puppy. The cat may have different chemicals that help fight off the worms, and if the dog doesnt have it, or possibly a different chemical, the reaction could be devestating. I would consult your vet, and get medications for it. Especially with a tiny dog like this, any miscalculation could become a huge problem. Good luck and i hope she gets well soon!

You should take her to the vet and get PUPPY meds. They are specially made for DOGS and ones that are PUPPIES. If you cannot afford to take her to the vet and buy her the proper medication. Then you SHOULD NOT have her, especially if you just got her.
