93 Dodge Spirit Weird Cooling Sys Issue?
In my dad's 93 Dodge Spirit, the temperature gauge will go up almost to the max temp and stay there for about a minute and then drops suddenly down to the normal range. Also the heat does not blow nearlyas hot as usual. The problem came on all of a sudden dont know if the cold temp has anything to do with it, any ideas?? Thanks.

Has the cooling system been worked on lately? Either way, I suspect air in the cooling system. If your car has the 2.5L engine, its design is such that the thermostat is higher than the radiator. Therefore, I suggest parking car on an incline, like oil change ramps, for example. With engine cold, remove radiator cap, start engine, park on incline and turn to full heat inside. Let car idle until fully warmed up. Watch for burping of air from radiator mouth. When this happens, slowly add coolant to keep radiator full. This should solve the problem.
