My Dog Seems To Be Limping Should I be Concerned? Details.?
I have a little Rat Terrier and from what I understand she jumped off the couch and hit her foot on a guitar hero guitar on the couch. That was around 2 o clock this afternoon. I though I saw her limping then my mom pointed it out again. I was rubbing her foot and she didn't look to be in any pain and I don't think she broke it. When I touch it she seemed fine but when she walks she barley puts any pressure on it and sometimes even avoids useing it. Will it go away over night or should I do something or be concerned? Please Help. Thank You.

I would wait overnight. If still not better by morning - then I would call the vet and schedule an appt. Just keep her off her feet and stop rubbing it. If it was broken or anything - you could aggravate it even more and cause more damage by rubbing it.

If she is not whimpering in pain or severely limping, and if she does not whine and jerk her leg away from you when you touch it, it is not broken.
Look for swelling, and check her leg for hot areas. If the area where she hit her leg is hotter than the rest of her leg, there could be some tissue damage and she should be taken to the vet for the proper care and procedure.
If she is just limping a little and there is no heat, it could just be tender/bruised from the impact. She will probably be ok, and it might just be a little sore. Just like how if people bump against something, it may be sore for a while, but it gets better. Keep an eye on it, and as I said, check for heat and swelling. If either are evident, take her to the vet.
In the meantime, run cold water on it (just clean out your sink really good and stick her in there and run cold water on her leg from the faucet). That will ease the pain and prevent swelling.

If it is no better by tomorrow, please take her to a vet. Sometimes when we think a paw may have been injured, the real pain is in a joint or muscle. Your dog is clearly experiencing pain. Let her rest as much as possible and have the vet check the paw and leg (and hip) tomorrow if she is still hurting.

i would wait for the next little bit if there is any swelling take her in if in another 24 hours she is still limping take her in
it could be a bruise or pulled muscle but it could also be a fracture dogs are surprisingly good at hiding pain
basically trust your gut if you think she needs to go in bring her

she may have bruised it or just jarred it see how she goes overnight if shes no better tomorrow then take her the vets sometimes its better to be safe than sorry and while smaller breeds don't suffer as much with joint problems like larger breeds you don't want to leave something untreated that may affect her in her old age

probably just staved it, keep an eye on her and if it worsens at any point or if its not improving after a few days then take her to the vet to be sure.

There's this kind of person who specializes in things like this, it's called a vet. Take her to it.
