practitioner of alternative medicine is not synonymous with the term Botanist. There are an have been for a very long time, people with advanced degrees in Botany that do not deal with alternative medicine and spend most of their time cataloging, collecting, growing and extracting various constituents from plants for reasons and purposes not directly tied to medical practice. The is even forensic botany.
I could be wrong but I have never heard or a college at least in the US offering a license in anything one usually takes state or local boards(qualifying tests) to obtain licensing. I have also not heard of a college or University in the US offering any curriculum containing alternative medicine
traditionally a person who practices plant medicine is an Herbalist and studies as an apprentice for many years to learn that discipline form a skilled, established practitioner willing to teach you.
