Gaza Strip: Jews, Muslims, and Americans?!?

The Gaza strip and MOST of the Middle East were given to the descendants of Abraham (Jews) by God. Who are we to take it from the Jews?

By this I guess you mean the conflict between the nation of Israel (which is not entirely Jews) and the Hamas faction that controls the Gaza Strip. Most American Christians probably support Israel. Possibly a few support Gaza Hamas. Many probably are undecided and support neither side of the conflict.

Hmmm... No countries are Jewish per sé - meaning that Judaism is the state religion. Only Israel is predominantly Jewish (76% Jewish)

I wish to reply to this question starting from the phrase, “might is right”. I just wish to know from my learned friend that who can retaliate against America in the present scenario, if Muslims can’t? There is no need to mention the name of Israel separately as both are two sides of a picture. If you go back to history, you will find that neither powerful Hitler nor a superpower of the past ”USSR” exists, so who knows what would happen in the future as nothing is permanent except GOD. The question of Narendra Modi as Prime Minister of India is of hypothetical nature, so it will be premature to comment. I am also not agreeing with you that the Israel's Gaza Massacre of Muslims was a revenge for Chabad House Massacre of Jews in Mumbai (26/11). It is very easy to kill citizens by the use of bombs. This war was not between the two nations but between a nation and a group of people of Gaza that is about 41 kilometers long, and between 6 and 12 kilometers wide, with a total area of 360 square kilometers. According to a web site the population of whole Middle East was 4602 thousands in the year 1987 whereas the population of Gaza strip was 564 thousand. No doubt, in the year 2009 the figures will be more in the same ratio. At this juncture I would like to say that Muslims are there in other countries too, more than the population of Middle East. I don’t know, why you are relating a local conflict with whole population of Muslim worldwide. It is also surprising that Problem of Sri Lanka is called LTTE, The problem of Nepal is called Maoist movement, the problem of Andhra is called Neksalist movement and in Bihar/ chateesgarh, it is called Ranveer Sena but if some problem will be related to Muslims, the whole media will call it is Islamic or Muslim Terrorism, is it justified? There is nothing like Islamic or Hindu terrorism but such type of movements are the reflection of the local problems, individual’s ambitions and selfishness, so they should be handled individually. We should not blame a particular community as a whole. This is my humble message to my fellow countrymen.

As a Jew I'd answer that in general the support is helpful. HOWEVER, this claiming "Jews have a right to it because God gave it to them" is NOT a Jewish perspective, & as imperalitic as the Muslim atttudes of those in the conflict & creates a bad image for Israel when it's said.

In religious Jewish views it's not "God gave it to them so they have a right to whatever...", it's more like "God promised it to us, & so far all our real world efforts have worked against the odds, so we are being supported." Less religious Jews don't even go that far.

It would be much, much ( can I say much again?) more helpful if those supporting Israel learned facts & used them in arguments. Some do very well. It's the general bashing of Islam & Muslims & claiming "God's book gives Jews rights to do whatever they want" that's harmful & not nice & against plenty of other things in that same book. There aren't enough Jewish folks to go around, so support from outside is needed very much.

On a different tact. The support from America is sometimes helpful such as vetoing hateful, double-standards at Israel, in proposals at the UN.

Other times it's crazymaking & harmful pressure. For instance, Israel didn't want to allow Hamas into the elections in PA territories. It was US pressure, so Hamas won PART of the g'vt (their supporters ignore that fact) & then they took over all of Gaza by force & split the g'vt in two & which prevents any further negotiations - which isn't good for either side.

Another is, it was the US that pressured Israel into Olso, without requiring that Arafat needed to implement education changes to reduce straight-hate from being taught in their schools. It's a key reason for the current mess, i.e that had Israel conceeding but the hate not being put in check among PA Arabs.

Israel is a secular democracy with laws of protection of religious freedom. She's the "Jewish state" only in a few limited aspects such as being a haven for Jewish refugees being persecuted & having a Jewish majority & the only place where Jewish holidays are recognized officially. There are something like 22 Arab & 55 Muslims countries, a number of these are theocracies where the law is Muslim law, Sha'ria. Some do not allow Jews to live in their country. Israel is 15-20% Muslim Arab.

Both your facts & your attitude are themselves not logical statements. You call Israel racist which has representative & freedom of religion for it's Muslim citizens...yet don't mention Hamas's racist charter to kill all the Jews, or Jordan's policy of Jews can't live there, or Syria's or Saudia's policies? Double standards are the classic bias at Jews & Israel, & you are using them.

Also your "facts" who's killed are just plain false. Also, Israel specifically targets militants who are shooting missiles at Israel, or trying to dig tunnels or...whatever war action they've invented. The PAs declared war & can not now cry they are "victims" to that war.

Israel is jewish. As long as the palestinians keep firing rockets and attacking Israel--America will support Israel. If the folks in Palesitine ever figure out that Israel has a right to exist--give up on violence--and ask the world to invest in a non-violent Palestine---Palestine could become a garden. The sad thing is-the folks there lost a war--but feel they must continue to fight that war for generations. Perhaps one day they will be overcome by rational thought and give up violence and accept the world as it is.

I pick the Jews, because that land is part of the promise land God gve to the Jews.

"Christian-america," if there is such, doesn't much care what a bunch of ignorant foreign persons do to each other. The US Govt such as it is supports Israel due to the strong monetary influence of the american jewish lobbys, though this is being attenuated by the stupidity of the settlement building movement in Israel. The superior stupidity of radical islamists and their mad dog actions against worldwide innocents pushes the scale in the other direction.
