Dog Bladder Infection! What can I do?

I found a male pomeranian dog (approx. full grown) outside in the freezing weather and I had to take it in. However, it has been dribbling blood when it pees and it drinks water ALOT. I searched online and it seems to have a bladder infection. What can I do without having to spend money at the vet?

Update:

Alesi's Chi's,

I own two other dogs so I know how to care for a dog in general. And i DID look for the owner considering I posted several signs and walked door to door around my block in 15 degree weather. And I highly doubt this is a stray because it has a collar (no tags) and it is groomed well and can tell it is a house trained pet.

Take it to a shelter. They'll give the dog the appropriate diagnosis and treatment, not to mention try and find the dog a home. If you want to keep the dog, you'll need to take it to the vet yourself.

It was good of you to take in the cold dog, but it sounds like it needs treatment immediately.

    Good Luck!

If you're not prepared to take this dog to the vet with such serious symptoms, then you're not prepared to own a dog. You didn't mention if you even looked for it's owner, but it's unlikely that a purebred dog is a stray. Surrender him to a no-kill shelter where he'll get the treatment he needs, and his owners will have a chance of finding him

I agree. If you cant afford antibiotics or vet care then take it to the Humane Society before the little guy is dead. He has internal bleeding to some degree if blood drips when he pees. He looks cute enough that someone should adopt him. Bottom line, He needs a strong course of antibiotics and proably an overall full check-up.

The dog really needs to get medication from a vet. Having a bladder infection SUCKS and if I was the poor dog I really wouldn't want to go much longer without medication. Would you ?

antibiotics are not that expensive. usually 15-100 dollars. and 45 to be seen by the vet. so you're looking at 145 at the most. call a vet and make an appointment very soon. the longer you wait, the more expensive it will be and the more pain the dog will be i. call a vet now.

That is great of you to take this dog in however, there are no home remedies to treat bladder infections. The vet is your only option. You should get him in soon because infections do spread over time and could cause perminant damage.

    nothing.

cranberry pills tend to help people. But cranberries could be poisonous to dogs.

If theres blood then you need to take it to the vet.

And if your worried about the money like 'oh is this important enough? my dogs pee had blood in it but i dont want to spend the money...' then you should have thought about that before you took in the dog.

    Go to the vet

Good for you taking this animal in. There is nothing you can do but take him to the vet. If you cannot afford this please turn him over to your local animal shelter/rescue.

just let your dog get a kidney infection and die, I guess.

or take it to the vet/shelter and surrender it so it can get the help it needs.

If you REFUSE to vet & get a REAL diagnosis & proper treatment...place it w/someone who WILL....or go dig a grave.
