Same here! I babysit all the time but these people I babysit for had a little boy in July. I just babysat for them last week! Hes about 6 months now. He went to bed about an hour after I got there which was nice but he LOVED things that lighted up and played music. So, if they have things like that just hold him in your lap an plop whatever in front of him! He should be happy!

ask the parent about the baby's routine/schedule! This way you'll know ahead of time if the baby is tired or hungry due to any cranky/crying spells. Also ask the parent if the baby is on solids yet. This way if you're unsure if the baby is hungry or not, you dont just feed it anything you see in the kitchen, and see if the parent can make bottles ahead of time, or teach you how to do it and when the baby usually gets one. Entertainment-wise, most babies this age are entertained by the simple things. Hand and clapping games, you doing funny faces, dancing around and singing all silly in front of the baby can be very stimulating and fun for you since the baby won't judge and just smile or laugh :) You can also read to the baby. If she/he doesnt pay attention all that much, hearing rhythm from a nursery rhyme or hearing you change your voice for a character can be stimulating and entertaining!

Make sure U have access to your mom or the baby's mom by cell phone. Keep warm and dry (diaper) and U won't have too much trouble. At that age U do not have to chase them around. Haha.

get their parents mobile number or phone number.

be sure that you are cpr and first aid certified. be sure to know if the kids have special needs like medical conditions and allergies. just google ownadaycare on the net. They have tons of articles that can help you with childcare.

I agree with the things you must know about him:

    What does he eat?

    How do you make it?

Does he have any allergic reactions?

    What is his schedule?

    What is his favorite toy?

How much do you feed him?

Does he have any medical conditions you need to know about?

    Things to know:

What does he eat - milk/puree?

    How to heat it?

    When does he eat?

Nap times and how to get him to sleep?

How does he like to be comforted?

    What are his favourite toys?

    :-)
