What's the difference between downloading a background and just regular downloading on a PS3?
The question pretty much says it all.
You guys know when you want to go somewhere and it says to either 'download background' or just plain 'download'? Well, what's the difference?

Downloading in background means you can just roam around the XMB while your game,demo or movie downloads so you can send messages to psn friends or listen to some music while you wait, but it'll stop downloading if you enter a chatroom or start playing a game you have to stay on the XMB for it to keep downloading the only problem about this is that it moves a tad slower than downloading regularly.

some downloads you can move to a background download that's under your net icon (with square i think) in witch case you can do other things while its downloading like surf web play games that aren't online and the download will continue some downloads you cant and you have to sit and watch the download bar move and cant back out or do anything while download is in progress

Downloading in background means that you can do other things (watch videos,play games OFFLINE,display pictures,etc.) while downloading whatever it is that you are downloading.
Regular downloading means that you are doing nothing but downloading whatever it is that you are downloading.
Thats as simple as I can put it.
