Is District 9 a good movie?

It's excellent, but it's not very accessible, as it's actually a South African movie that is meant to speak about race relations (and apartheid, in a way). It was made for a very small amount of money (~$20M), and does a great job. It's shot with a hand-cam style, it's far from polished, but tells a great tale.

I highly recommend it, but it's not a movie you go to see for the effects or as light fare, you really have to be ready to appreciate the meaning they're trying to get across.

Definitely rent it. It is a very good movie even for non scifi fans. Like me.

Yes, it's worth a rental, and much better than most of the dribble Hollywood puts out.

i almost threw up watching that movie. the first 30 min. of the movie was hard to watch since the camera was so shaky. kinda reminded me of the feeling i got watch "saving private ryan.' i thought the story line sounded good, but i couldn't sit i the theatre and watch for very long.

recent movies i've watched and would recommend are "the hangover," and "all about steve" (my wife made me watch it, but it was actually really funny)

Irritating and predictable. Bolt is much better. or Zombieland. or Up! or Star Trek or Zack & Miri Make a Porno, or Extract or Body of Lies, or Terminator Salvation, or Iron Man. In fact most other movies.

YEAH. I liked it. The end was a little lacking but it was generally good. There are some scenes that are a little unsettling- they make the whole thing!

no its not it has a bad story good fantasy it might look like a war or battles movie but its boring only one short battle

My bf and I didn't like that movie. It wasn't what we expected it to be. But you might like it, so I say go for it.

i thought it was a good movie...but it has a really really really slow start tho...i say rent it andif you like, then buy it!!! =P
