I'm looking for a new author/book series.?

I'm looking for something along the lines of Laurel K. Hamilton or Anne Rice (before they both went off the rails). I love True Blood the television show and already plan to read the books. I've tried the Harry Dresden books and didn't much like them. I have no interest in Twilight or other books about teenagers. I'm curious about L.A. Banks and Terry Pratchett. Thanks in advance, folks.

I would definitely read Terry Pratchett. He is an absolute genius. His Discworld series includes some of the best books I have ever read. I enjoyed Anne Rice and Charlaine Harris but none of them compare to T.P. I'll give you some advice, though. I wouldn't start at the beginning. The whole series can be broken down into groups concerning certain characters. I would start at the beginning of one of these groups, but leave The Colour of Magic until you're familiar with the world. This will not affect your understanding of the stories.

Good starting books I would recommend are 'Guards! Guards!' (concerning the City Watch) 'Wyrd Sisters' (concerning the witches) 'Going Postal' (concerning Moist von Lipwig, a great character) Mort (concerning Death) and 'Moving Pictures' (concerning Hollywood).

All of these books are gripping, hilarious and almost impossible to put down. Have fun, and I hope this helps.

P.S If you somehow manage to find one you don't like, don't give up on the series. Try again, trust me, it's well worth it.
