Christmas gift for your kids' teachers?
Just curious when this trend started with giving a gift to your kids' teacher(s).
I don't recall doing this as a kid, nor do I recall most classmates doing it either. It just wasn't done.
What are your thoughts for elementary school aged kids gift giving to their teachers? Only if they ask you if they can get the teacher a gift, or should you do it anyway?

I have given a few gifts to my teachers before, and it is a really nice feeling. I don't really do it much anymore, but sometimes I do when I feel generous. When I go to 6th grade next year, I'll see...
Anyhow, from what I've seen, some of the best presents you could give to your teacher are either donations for school supplies, or something that comes in handy during class, such as an electric pencil sharpener. I wouldn't give things to teachers that involve stuff out of school, because you never really know what they do out of the school's campus.

I suppose it is different in Australia as Christmas is the end of the school year. So it is also a thank-you gift for a wonderful year. But we also give the teacher an Easter egg. I remember giving my teachers gifts 20 years ago. Christmas is about giving and why not give to the person who is teaching your child 6.5hrs a day. We also give to the crossing lady as she crosses them safely across the road and spending a little money to make them feel appreciated is ok with me. My kids also wanted to give to their art teacher, music teacher, principal and vice principal. Then throw in the Sunday school teacher, gymnastics teachers and it is an expensive time but worth it. It does not have to be a big gift but just something to let them know you appreciate what they do. All the school teachers and crossing lady were given a box of Christmas treats that we made at home. It was some fun we had together making these things and the teachers really appreciated it. To the point we had to write out some of the recipes for them as they were so much enjoyed.
But maybe that is the difference in our countries

I get my kids teachers a present if I feel they are a good teacher. It is usually between $5 and $10, nothing extravagant. The way I see it I would get a day care provider a small gift, why not a teacher. They help take care of my kids (the most important things to me) and make learning fun as well. My kids also love giving their teachers gifts.

Its actually been done for quite a long time. Back in the days when there was just one small school house in each town with only one or two teachers, children would bring simple things (like the cliche' apple) as a gift for the teacher.
If the children have a desire to get their teacher a little something for Christmas, then I go along with it. I think its a wonderful gesture considering Christmas is the "time of giving". I don't go out of my way though. My sons teacher actually "complains" about her over stock of coffee mugs, lotions and candles she gets from children during Christmas. lol Its a nice gesture, but not necessary.

An ornament is a good gift as well. Especially if the teacher puts a tree up in the classroom. Just make sure the teacher actually celebrates Christmas before you get them a Christmas gift!

When I was in kindergarten I remember getting my teacher an ornament. I'm 23 now. We always get my step daughters teachers a little something for Christmas nothing over ten bucks and then a card and some chocolates for Valentine's Day. You're not obligated to get your children's teachers anything. To show your appreciation your child can draw them a picture and I'm sure the teacher would be delighted.

We did gingerbread boys and ladies, shrink from a development with a pointy knife, in spite of the incontrovertible fact that it could be much less puzzling to apply cookie cutters. The recipe is in simple terms cinnamon and apple sauce made right into a dough you could roll out. the single I observed had you shrink skirts, pants and shirts from fabric yet you could in all hazard paint the dried embellishes additionally. indexed under is a hyperlink to between the various recipes i stumbled on for the embellishes. good luck!
