What's Up With the Ford Focus Door Locks?

I have a loaner car from Ford while my Escape is being repaired. It's a 2007 Focus. . The doors lock automatically after about 30 seconds when you get out. What if you lock your keys inside? Can I stop this?

dpt is right be sure to have spare or several spare keys because if you leave them in the car and not in the ignition switch they will automaticly lock, can cost up to 100 dollars to get unlocked!

My 2007 Focus is the exact opposite, I leave it unlocked all the time without the keys in the ignition and it doesn't lock, but I have left it running once to warm it up in the winter and it locked automatically. I had to get AAA out to open it.

if your keys were in the ignition the doors won`t lock , but if you left them on the dashboard or the passenger seat it will lock on it .
