Ok so my friend left her car keys when she went on vacation and i drove her car and slid it across a railing. she drives a ford escape and now the left bumper is slightly lower than the right and part of it is a little cracked. they get back in 3 days. is there anything i can do to get it fixed by then?

Don't take this as a smart comment, but unless you're an auto body mechanic you have no choice but to take it to a shop. Unfortunately the Ford Escape has a plastic bumper rather than a metal one and so there is no way to repair it without the proper tools. The entire bumper will probably need to be replaced.

If ist is not too bad you can probably fix or repair with epoxy or fiberglass reinforced filler. Just remember this particular spot will probably not flex as the bumper was originally supposed to do. This could make it more susceptible cracks and damage in the future. You will also have to have it painted which could cost up to $400 +. You should be able to find someone to do its for around a $100 or so if you look hard enough. Aftermarket bumpers are pretty reasonable as well. I have seen bumper covers for as low as $40 for certain cars if you purchase an aftermarket one, of course you still have to face the painting issue.

Hopefully, there is insurance on the car. You can try to fix the crack, but unless it is really small, you probably won't be able to and then they might figure it out. The lowered level of the bumper sounds as though it is not anchored on like it should be. Maybe you should come clean and tell her what happened. If they have a deductible, you could pay it and then they could get it fixed, right. Next time, don't drive anyone's car without permission.

you mean it,s dropped down on 1 side? loosen the bolts under the bumper, raise the bumper up and tighten the bolts.
