What are the new rules for birth certificates?
My mom is trying to get a copy of my baby brother's birth certificate. According to her, you have to pay money to get your child's birth certificate. Is that even true? We live in Maryland so does anyone know the rules for how to get a birth certificate, and where to get it?

You just need to contact the department of Vital Statistics (Link with instructions below). A parent can request one for their child. She needs to send a photocopy of her Photo ID (like a driver's license) or other proof and fill out a form. Then mail all of it to the department.
There is a fee of $12, that's less than the internet connection you're typing on right now.
