Can you please give me some tips with photography?

Well, I was talking with my friends the other day about what we wanted to do when we grew up. I thought maybe I could be a photographer, but I want to learn more about it. I am going to be an apprentice this summer to a local professional photographer, but the summer is so long away right now, and I would really love to be able to learn more about photography before then. I have tried searching the Internet for a helpful site, but I haven't really been able to find anything yet. Everyone who has seen my work, well, they all really love it! I think I am actually pretty good, but I really would like to get better at this! If you could, please give me any helpful tips or suggestions, or recommend a site that I could visit. Thanks in advance!

Books are much, much better than internet resources (I have been thru this myself!)

Try posting pictures on photo forums (not here!) where people are actually interested and experienced in the art - try these -

    http://www.deviantart.com/

    http://www.photographica.org/

Deviant art is a HUGE community with a HUGE variety of art, Photographica is much smaller and is much more reserved - they are mostly about flowers and sunsets, and not all of them are good, but there are a good amount of members who are great photogs and are exceptionally helpful in giving tips and critiquing

Read up alot on basis like aperture, shutter speed, depth of field, and the "rule of thirds", Also read all you can about lighting and white balance!

If you would like specific tips or someone to critique your photos, feel free to email me thru my profile. I am by no means a professional, but am a pretty darn decent amateur :)

    Hi,

One good thing to always remember in photography is, if it doesnt look good and your not happy with it, keep taking more shots, your eventually going to get a photo your happy with.

If you wanted to get some inspiration from other photographers, Renee Brazel is a really different and unique portrait photographer, and Mark Gray is a stunning landscape photographer.

If you wanted to look at some professional photographers sites, just google, for example 'Landscape photography' and it will bring up heaps of great photographers and their works.

Thats really great that your going to be an apprentice photographer, that will show you a lot, and you will learn heaps.

Remember rule of thirds, macro, composition, different perspectives, and you'll be great!

You could look at my website if it will help at all.

Every little bit of help counts.

Stick to your dream and NEVER give up.

    Good luck, :)

post work on here for other professionals to critique your work could be good but i would have it critiqued on here by professionals that dont know you professionals can tell you a lot more about your photos than an average person can
