How do I back up a corrupted ipod?

My ipod is corrupted. It is recognized as 'ipod' by itunes. When I play it normally, It freezes up at certain songs, and I am forced to reset it each time. I can restore it from itunes, but doing so will remove all the media on it, and I am on vacation for a couple weeks, so I do not want an empty ipod. Is there any way I can back up the music on my corrupted ipod so I can restore it without worry?
