Buying bras post breast reduction?

I recently had a breast reduction in October (so thrilled) and now Im ready to go bra shopping. What stores has anyone gone to that were very helpful? Using a tape measure only goes so far, what Im looking for is a store where the people are willing to spend the time to assure a proper fit.

Update:

Thats good to know Bunny! Since Im kind of like a bra virgin....years of wearing whatever they didnt spill out of. I havent a clue to how theyre supposed to look or fit.

Any place that sells bras should take the time to measure you. Post breast reduction I didn't need to go to a specialty bra story anymore, the one in my area is called Bare Necessities. Since pre surgery I could never wear anything at Victoria's Secret, that was my first stop for bras. They measured and fitted me and the sales girl was very helpful. Also, department stores likes Nordstoms and Macys will measure you too.

The most important thing is a well fitted bra.

    Good luck!

  • How ironic, you get breast reduction, when all I want is for my girls to grow. :(

Anyways, Victoria’s Secret has a huge selection of bras, or you can try Fruit of The Loom bras, those are really comfy and not expensive; Wal-Mart, Target.. Etc.

    Happy New Years!

I used to work at victorias secret- find a sales girl and explain your situation. We get trained extensively on how to fit a bra, and deal regularly with women who have just gotten implants, reductions, and mastectomies- so I'm going to say that would be a good place for you to start :)

I would think places like victorias secret that specialize in bras would be the best place to go

jUST ASK THE Sales person that you are looking for someone to spend the time with you to assure a proper fit, and they will, try a large department store like Myers or DJ's (in Australia) or a boutique.

It depends on the individual. I just had a friend in Indiana that had it done and she was down for @ 1 month. It gets better as time goes on, but it is tender and some pulling and stretching that happens that makes it uncomfortable. It is well worth it, according to her. Good Luck
