Religious fanatics who wave flags, hold signs, and bear crosses down the street..?
um..John..I'm not ridiculing one's spiritual beliefs. I have some interesting ones of my own..I'm ridiculing..no..challenging the people who give human beings a bad name. read the question, silly. You'd get it.
...they feel the need to "save the world" by declaring that "Jesus is coming, repent now!" or "God hates..blah blah blah.." And then there's the not-so-fanatical one who still feels the need to prove a point by carrying a life-sized cross down the street...
Why don't these people do something a little more useful like..I don't know..pick up the trash that's lying around that they're walking all over? Perhaps they can help the person who tripped and fell right in their vicinity? Or maybe they can do something even more useful with their extra time and volunteer at a soup kitchen, toy/clothing/blanket/food drive, etc? I'm pretty sure there are more important things to worry about than warning people of an end we don't even know is really coming.
(I deeply apologize for any fragments or run-on sentences..) lol
Why? Actually. I do. I don't have the time to do all of it, but I do quite a bit to help my fellow beings.
drprabaj1120: Heh. Your avatar looks pretty rad. Sure I'd love to. Perhaps we can grab some coffee later. =P
Friend, for once, I'm not actually bashing anybody. This is a legitimate question regarding a small group of hypocrites..not Christians as a whole. I have some good friends who are Christians, and we let each other be. And our theological discussions are always respectful.
and omg..I love her!!! Thanks for the vid. It cracked me up. My dad, a recovering Catholic and possibly a very quiet Christian (I really have no idea) would love it. And so would my loosely Protestant mom.

LMAO @ YOU ! Why don't you do something more useful than ridiculing something that you know doesn't actually exist !
What would happen if you went to see a shrink and said to him or her "Doc, I've spent hundreds of hours ridiculing something that I knew didn't actually exist" The doc say's "why do it then ? You say "I'm trying to convince a certain group of people, to see how illogical and irrational their thought process and behaviour is" What do you think the shrink would say to you ? Personally, I don't think they would say anything. I think they would put their index finger to the side of their head and make a circling motion. Some might also make the following noise with their lips……. B-b-b-blb-blb-blb-blb-bb
Please take a break for your own mental well being. I'm worried that you'll become mentally unhinged and that you'll you end up in the fetal position sucking your thumb.
You are a lier, you say that your not ridiculing anyones spiritual belief, however, your own question that I sourced proved exactly this. Your question read "When do people think Mighty Mouses second coming will be" ? If that is not ridiculing Jesus and Christians, I don't know what is. The question proved my point and was conveniently deleted, probably by you !

There are two types of religious people. The real religious ones who go about their lives quietly and just help people who need help, work in soup kitchens, and all the other good works.
Then there's the hypocritical religious fanatics and fundamentalist religious people. These ones are far more interested in controlling what everyone else does and thinks, demonstrating, waving placards and crosses, getting caught in toilets playing handies with wide stances, affairs with prostitutes, ripping their followers off unmercifully, waging religious wars, and destroying things they don't agree with.
I'm an atheist, but I have no quarrel with the first type of religious people whatsoever. However, I have really big problems with the second type.

They have two options:
1. Pretend they're doing something fabulous for the lord by ranting and raving about their Bible nonsense.
2. Actually do something beneficial, which would require real time, effort and money.
The former, of course, allows them to feel more pious because they're looking down their noses on all the "sinners" and preaching their lunacy as if their poo doesn't smell. Then when they actually look at all the mess around them they can claim it's because those awful people didn't listen to them about Jebus and the Buybull.

Though I'm a Christian, I've to agree those peeps are going overboard and obsessed. They are evangelising the wrong way. I mean you can't just tell people to convert with just walking down the streets and getting converts. I used to be in this Church called YHope, which wants the members to get people to do survey and make them come to Church. If I failed to do so, I would be scolded by the leaders. Now, I realised that this way of Evangelising is dead wrong! Because Evangelism is done by building relationship with others and shining for Lord Jesus.

My, my, my.....aren't we all so judgmental!? Well, not ALL, but I think the majority of people are just plain 'Christian bashers', and just can't help ourselves. Not that Christians haven't earned their reputation, but I don't think it really helps anyone to put down another's beliefs and practices....it just helps the basher to let off a little steam.
Don't get me wrong, I'm a recovered (actually still in the recovery stages) Christian fundie, and went through my own Christian bashing days, and was probably worse than the average. And sometimes I still do have lots of fun putting them down.
But so far, I don't think it has helped any of them to hear how bad they are.
Well, except for maybe Julia Sweeny in "Letting Go of God"....now she might could make a difference in how a Christian thinks. You just have to love her humor in bashing the whole Christian thing.
Here's a trailer for her monologue about letting go of God: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=geRUTfgTQlo

Well, they have that "the world is ending soon, Jesus is coming" mentality that dictates that they not care one bit about things like looking out for your fellow human and picking up trash. Unfortunately it is mental midgets as they who elect an idiot for a president (yes I'm speaking of that murderer W.) The only problem with democracy is that stupid people have a vote and free speech.

Top question. Rather than throwing around these signs is only trying to convince people to join their selected religious circles and the response is generally negative , so if they want to show the bloke upstairs they are making an effort it should be in the manner you speak of as they achieve nothing by flashing signs and crosses to the public.

i've actually seen this. A group of people from a church got together one 4th of July, paraded down the street waving the American flag while the person carrying the flag was dressed in Combat fatigues and bloodied and bandaged. They didn't accomplish anything and just got a lot of weird looks.

Because what they like most is actually people gazing. I had a pic with my boy, Tony, in New Orleans during Mardi Gras years ago, drunk off our asses, squatting in front of the Jesus People with their sign to repent. It's hysterical.
You're cute. Wanna carry the cross together sometimes? ;)
EDIT: Yeah, coffee goes great with the cross. XD

My best guess is they feel they are doing something that should be done. In Topeka Kansas, the Phelps group stand on street corners with signs, even having children holding signs, that are reprehensible. And yet they are allowed to do it.
