It won't make any difference, use either. Your limiting factor is your ADSL link speed back to your ISP, which will be an order of magnitude lower than either Ethernet or USB speeds.
Technically speaking, USB is about 400mbps, regular Ethernet is 100mbps unless you have gigabit (1000mbps). Most modems/routers are only 100mbps ethernet ports anyway, so in a pure technical sense, USB is faster in your case. But, you won't see any difference...

you should always prefer your Ethernet port since its dedicated to networking
your USB is a second best + it takes resources you can use for something else.

Ethernet will be fine.
Ethernet (~1GB/s) transfers data much faster than USB 2.0 (~480MB/s).
