How to fix blue screen problem?

I have a Compaq Presario V2000 notebook. When the computer finished booting into the window it will start showing a blue screen with some words (It is too fast that I haven't have time to read) and restart itself. I can't manage to do my things before the blue screen appeared. I'm using Windows XP.

Update:

I've used RegCure registered version but it doesn't fix my problem.

Write down the code that shows up on the blue screen. Then google it. It'll be something like a dll file is missing. might be worth putting the WindowsXp cd in the computer and boot up. should have a repair tool on it.

Try this to at least get the Blue Screen to stick around long enough to be read:

    1. When the machine starts the boot sequence, press the F8 key repeatedly.

    2. A text screen will come up. Click the Disable automatic restart on System failure entry.

    3. When you boot again, the Blue Screen should stay up for you to read rather than reboot itself.

Good luck with the main problem.

The Windows operating system constantly refers to the registry to get information about all of the components such as hardware and software which are installed on the computer. The registry tells Windows what to do and how to access the various programs, files, and processes. However, the registry can contain bad information which sends Windows off doing useless tasks or running unneeded routines. Sometimes errors occur including the blue screen of death. Other times the system slows down. Because of the sheer number of factors that can affect the registry, there’s no one size fits all approach. You can’t just go into the registry and remove the bad information because it’s nearly impossible to decipher which information is good and which information is bad. That’s a job better suited for software. I should like to commend Registry Easy http://cleanup-comuter-run-perfectly.com/ to you ! You can scan your pc for free! Good luck!

I bet this is a driver problem (common in windows. I blame the manufacturer).

To stop the blue screen from restarting the computer, go to this link:

    http://www.suggestafix.com/index.php?showtopic=300...

Also, you can check the event viewer. This will also show the problem.

    - Right click My Computer, select Manage

    - Click Event Viewer in left panel.

    - Look for Errors that occured in the last hour.

    First is to restart system.

When the system appears blue alert windows, you need to start up system. Under most circumstance, computer can go back to normal track by restarting computer. Normally, you can not start it by press “Ctrl + Alt + Del” but just press reposition button or turn off electric power to start up computer again.

After entering into system, you can check the error as follows:

    1. Click “Start” > “Administrative Tools” and double-click “Event Viewer”,

    2. In the “Event Viewer”, you can check the “Error Records” in the “Application” and “System” respectively.

    3. Click the item and then you can check the detail of the failed startup service.

Or, you can type “eventvwr.msc” in the dialog box by clicking “Start” > “Run” and then you can enter into “Event Viewer” as well.

Second is to restore the “Last Known Good Configuration (your most recent settings that worked)”.

In fact, the blue alter can not bother you without specific reasons. Normally, it is caused by updating driver programs or installing certain software.

Sometimes users delete some very important system files that can lead to blue screen probably. At this moment, you can restart the system and press “F8” quickly to choose “Last Known Good Configuration”.

By doing this, system can restore efficient information in the registry in the item of “HKEY/LOCAL/MACHINE/System/Current Control Set”.

However, it is unable to fix errors caused by broken files or driver program problems.

Or you can choose to press “F8” and choose “Safe Mode” to see whether system can enter into it normally. If so, you have to be aware that problems are likely caused by driver programs or system service errors.

Third step is to see about the wrong code.

If you want to know the specific information of wrong code, you can look them up in the Microsoft official website. Do remember the code, especially the one of “0x0000001E”. In the website, you can find the details of problems.

    Hi Nintendo Ds;

Turn on the laptop and then press F8, then select safemode with networking. Once logged in, right click my computer, click properties and click device manager. The blue screen is probably a driver problem. If you see a yellow exclamation mark then click on it and select update driver. If your Network has a yellow exclamation point you will need to download and install the driver first. This will allow you to get on the internet to donwload the rest of them.

Most of the time it is a video driver problem and re-installing the driver works.

    Good Luck

It's your Display Drivers. I'm guessing NV4_Disp will be referring to NVidia. If your PC doesn't boot up at all then do the following: 1) Boot PC in Safe Mode with Networking. (Keep pressing F8 while your PC is booting up to select this option). 2) Go to Nvidia's home page and download the latest driver for your Graphics Card. 3) Remove your current driver. Right click on My Computer, select Properties, click Hardware Tab, then Device Manager. Go to Display Adapters, find your Graphics Card listed and Uninstall it. 4) Install the Drivers you downloaded from step 2. 5) Restart your PC. Hope that helps. :)
