How are you expecting him to react ??? When you call "unimportant", the things that for him are important ??? (it could be a video game, a lollypop or a gum, he has interests and things he likes)
It doesn't seem that you are someone calm and easy to talk to either ! I'm not saying that it is Ok for him to scream, or be aggressive, (or that you have to grant or give him wherever he wants) that is definitely wrong, but if your attitude is negative as well you wont get anything positive back !

Their Teaching Regimens were Uninteresting
I found Few Teachers in school that I could Relate too
Some had great Method and students were Total Butt heads
Interest is what he needs generated in some way
Hope You had a Great Holiday!!
