how was it rude to make her wait?
I was at the mall trying on some clothes and I used the handicapped dressing room because I needed the bench in it (there weren't benches in the normal ones) so as I was trying some pants on I got a knock on the door and I said that I was in there and I was almost done and the women responded that someone was there that needed the room so I said again that I was almost done and I would be right out...when I got out a wheelchair user went in and the store worker told me I was being rude to make her wait when I could have used a different one so I told her I needed the bench but she just ignored me...
angel: what? I'm just asking because I needed it too (I am handicapped just not wheelchair bound)
sorry I wasn't specifc as to why I needed the bench...it's because I am handicapped and can't stand up while putting on jeans (which I was trying on)
can anyone tell me if they can see these add details...because I don't know if people just aren't reading them or if they can't see them...

You had no way of knowing she was out there waiting. I think and I hope, had you seen her before waiting, you would have used one of the other dressing rooms. Sometimes when we go out and have our baby with us, I sometimes use the handicapped stalls but only if I do not see anybody waiting.
Quite honesty I think it was kind of rude of the salesperson to give you such a hard time about it. She should have politely apologized to both of you. She could have said something like this to you "Ma'am I apologize but we do try to reserve these stalls for special needs customers, here let me show you to another room". And she could have said something like this to the handicapped lady "Ma'am I apologize our store does not have a notice on these doors to let other customers know we try to reserve them, but I will bring it to my manager's attention." She needs to work on her customer service skills, you never ignore customers.....well unless they are kinda looney and talking to themselves... ;)

It's very rude. For what reason did you need a handicapped room to change? Be courteous and use the normal one like every other POLITE person.

unless you're handicapped too, you technically didn't "Need " the bench.
you don't even say what you needed it for which makes me think it was probably like, just to put your extra stuff on it? what? you have no good reason.
yes, its bad form to use the handicapped rooms if you aren't handicapped in any way!

Handicap restroom stalls and dressing rooms are not like parking spaces that are reserved for only the handicapped...so no, you were not being rude...she was.

Edit; No that I saw your edit, no it was not rude to make her wait. Just because she is handicapped doesn't mean she has rights over everything. She is still human, and she should wait like everyone else.

Why did you need the bench? Important detail--Either you really did and it wasn't rude: or you didn't really need it and it was incredibly rude.

No wtf just because the ladies on a wheelchair doesn't make her privileged, in a way.
handicapped doesn't mean inpatient.. she can wait.
