If you have any custom content, uninstall it. (That means you found it on the internet and installed it into your game. I dunno if you know what that is, but my friend and I used to use it when we were on our Sims 2 kick.) Restart your computer, try to run another program on your computer (i.e., another game or a software like Photoshop, just to figure out if it's the Sims game or your computer). Then uninstall the Sims and reinstall it.
