I accidentally took a placebo pill instead of an active pill?

I realized this morning (Tuesday) that I forgot to take my pill for Sunday and Monday. I just had my period last week and my new pack was supposed to start Sunday and I accidentally took a placebo Sunday night thinking it was the regular active hormone pill. So this morning I took the active pill for both Sunday and Monday. Tonight I will take the pill for today. I will be short 1 placebo pill at the end of the month. Is this ok? Will I be protected or did I totally just mess up my cycle by taking the placebo when I was supposed to take an active? Should I just not take the pill this month and wait until next month?

Being short a placebo pill isn't going to hurt anything. Placebo pills have nothing in them, you actually don't even have to take them; they're just to remind you of when you need to begin your next pack. At the end of the month, just have the usual 7 days off of the active pills, don't worry about the missing placebo.

If I were you, I'd use extra protection for the next week or so. Taking the placebo didn't hurt you, but missing the active pill could mess up your protection.

As a warning though... you might get a bit of a stomach ache tonight since you've taken so many pills today.

You are probably ok. Just maybe have protected sex this month to be safe. And be extra careful to start on the right day next month since your placebos will be one short.
