The BATS are dying is this a warning sign about 2012?

A mysterious disorder decimating the bat population in upstate New York has spread through the northeast and could be headed across the nation. The disease, called white nose syndrome after the white smudges found on infected bats, has spread to six states in two years, killing hundreds of thousands of hibernating bats, reports AP. The malady rouses bats from hibernation early as they burn through fat stores and they head into winter weather to search in vain for insects.

"The cause for concern is that this is going to race across the country faster than we can come up with a solution," said a New York wildlife biologist. The illness poses no direct threat to humans, but bats play a crucial ecological role, eating millions of insects that would otherwise destroy crops.

At least 1 million have died in the past three years from a mysterious disease, posing serious questions for our environment. I think nostradamus predicted about this in 2012. with food storages. WWIII and more. we must change our ways. or else our environment is going to really be in trouble The Honey are dying and now our Bats are slowly dying

    No, I don't think it's a sign warning us about 2012.

2012 will be like any other year that has occurred on this planet. Some people will die, some will be born, others will continue. There will be tragedy and triumph, delight and despair, poverty and wealth, sickness and health. The cataclysms that the 2012 crackpots purvey on the web and histeria channel will not occur. Life will go on pretty much the same as it has year after year after ... get the picture?

Well you have to remember, 2012 isn't really based on any real "facts". All that it is based on is the Long Count Calendar, one of the Mayans calendars the restarts every 5,125.36 years. The next restart of this cycle is December 21, 2012. Now even Mayan Scholars have said that the restart of the Long Count Calendar should be a time of celebration, not a time to hide in bunkers and await the worlds end. The fact that bats are dying in NYC is either global weathering or just a coincidence.

It may be that this is a warning, the same thing with honey not being produced as much by bees but there is no way to tell if it is or isn't. If you are worried about 2012, there are plenty or organizations that are setting up shelters. I personally think it is just hyped by the movie "2012", and this will pass just like Y2K.

    Absolutely not.

Many people said that the bird flu would be the apocalypse. Obviously, it wasn't.

Many people said that the swine flu would be the apocalypse, but it wasn't as big a deal as we made it out to be.

This is another one of those times.

Diseases come and go, in many different forms and occur in many different species. Eventually, the bats' immune systems will kick in, and the disease will fade out, just like it's been for thousands of years.

Even if this did turn out to be a major disease in bats, there is no connection between it and the theory of 2012.

Bats in America develop a disease, so meteors crash into the Earth? It doesn't affect 2012 in the slightest.

We won't die because the bats are. It's like saying "OMG MY GOLDFISH DIED. Now I will too." I mean, I feel bad that the bats are dying and stuff and yeah we should be a little bit more careful with our environment. But this is NOT a sign of 2012 :)

Nostradamus predicted that one million bats would die before 2012? Oh wait; he never put a date to his "predictions" so the ignorant could apply them to whatever century was most convenient.

The world will not end in 2012. Anyone that says otherwise is trying to sell you something.

Bat populations are decreasing... uh-huh. Have you performed all the proper sacrifices? Have you examined the entrails from any goats? Nostramus said so? Oh, right -- the leading scientific figure of our time...

    Some people are beyond hope!
