SAHM thinking about doing photography (pics included)?
I love taking photos so I was thinking about doing photography on the side. I realize I am an armature and I still need a lot of work. Just looking for some feed back, thanks!

Hi! Some of your pictures have a very interesting composition but I get the feeling that these are purely accidental. Indeed, the pictures look amateur but practice makes perfect and if this interests you I think you should absolutetly go with your gut, practice and perhaps look for lessons. At this point I would not think much of your pictures in terms of technique, aesthetic or subject but with interest, time and information you will learn a lot. A simple 2 weeks course, which are surely available if you look around, would do a lot and having credentials will give you more clients.
Your little models are adorable and if you love photography go for it and practice, practice, practice! my best advice is that you get some books about the topic and see as many pictures and visual material as you can to educate your eye, naturally you will begin to discover better angles and tricks to improve your work. If you can meet and learn from other photographers at a class it would be wonderful. Like I said, some of the pictures are very interesting and even those which are not "technically" correct are very sweet.
Best luck!

What, you're gonna be the next Ansel Adams? Really? Get in line.
This is the digital age. Everyone and their dog thinks they're a photographer or thinks they're going to be a photographer, but 99.9% of them are just an average Joe with a camera and Photoshop Elements. And there's less and less demand for professional photographers all the time. The few there are have talent, training and are interested in making it their life's work and livelihood, not a side hobby.
Find a different half-career.

You are doing a wonderful job, keep up the good work, I think that you should continue this. There are some people that you need to get in touch with. They are in NY and this is the type of pic. that they like. Good Luck

I like them good job. I know picture taking can be so much fun and if you live in the right area and know the right people you can make some extra cash off of it.

Sorry....I'm not impressed. They look like normal snap shots to me. I wouldn't pay you to take photos of my kids. Take a couple of classes on photography and learn about composition and the rule of thirds. Watch your cropping!
After your classes you can set up a MySpace page showing your photography business and do a people search with just your zipcode. Add as many "friends" as you can. Also get some business cards and leave them in public places.
