i love that song, too (:
i think you really need to look at the lyrics to understand them, a few are self explanatory, but others are really deep.
"i'll be your crying shoulder" pretty obvious. he's sayin that he's always gonna be there
"Emeralds from mountains thrust towards the sky
Never revealing their depth" that part's a bit harder. right before, he talks about her eyes, so i'm guessing the "emeralds" are her eyes. the never revealing their depth is obvious: she's deep and beautiful on the inside, but she's hiding it
"i'll Be better when I'm older" once again, a pretty obvious line. he's saying that overtime, he'll become a better person and itll be easier for him to love her.
"Rain falls angry on the tin roof
As we lie awake in my bed
You're my survival, you're my living proof
My love is alive and not dead"
this part is a bit trickier. my guess is its referencing sex, but i could be wrong. 'as we lie awake in my bed' suggests that they're sleeping together, and 'my living proof my love is alive and not dead' might be refering to his sex life.
hope this helps!

it is talking about what he will be to his girlfriend or wife. first he is describing the girl then he is saying he will be her shoulder to cry on and he will be the greatest fan of the girls life. i also think he is saying how he will be there for her.
