Why am I scared to have knee surgery in a week ?
I keep putting it off till now. I have never broken a bone or even a cavity. So 4hour surgery is not sitting well with me. I don't scare easily but this does.

Well of course you're scared of the unknown, I think everyone is. It could be a perfectly routine surgery, and if you've never had surgery, you'll most likely feel anxiety. Just try to stay calm, and it will actually improve your success rate. I hope it goes well, and wish you a speedy recovery.

Let's be real here, nobody wants to have to be cut into when you don't really know for sure what the outcome is. Then you have all the scare stories that make it worse, and the botched jobs on top of that. You add that all together and it leaves you with a lot to be thinking about and worried about. Then always come the questions of how much is it going to impact my life, good or bad? All the questions of the unknown come to the surface. Or have you had some type of negative reaction with the surgeon that is nagging at you?
You said it was for your knees. I don't know for what part of your knee but I have seen some people who have had trouble with the tendons for their kneecaps that has made it hard for them to walk and ended up getting surgery because of the pain. For that reason I am passing along a release for the kneecap that you can try, if that is what is bothering you, to see if it can give you any relief. Here it is:
Kneecap: (Use a chair that has no cross members on it.)
While sitting start with your leg out in front of you extended out to a comfortable length. Wrap your hands around it so you leave a open working area. Place your thumbs about two inches behind your knee and press into the top middle of your leg hard and hold. Relax. After 30 seconds, slowly slide that leg back until it is pulled up under the chair as far as you can make it go. Then release the pressure but hold your leg there for one minute longer.
It it's not that at all I am sorry for having taken up your time, just wanted to pass it along in that slim chance it might be helpful.

I've had each knees operated on - cartilage eliminated, ligament reduce to allow knee cap move to correct role, mcl pressure - did not have an excessive amount of affliction (2d time I had a right away line with liquid affliction meds into my knee). I used a computer that flexed my knee for me - CPM computer I consider it was once referred to as. Also had an ice pad computer - little cooler with a pump that pumped ice bloodless water to a pad that was once round my knee. I began bodily cure a couple of days after surgical procedure. If I have been you I'd ask the bodily therapist, or name your healthcare professional, and notice what they are saying.
