Having trouble download PS3 games updates!!!?
Every time I go to play a game and an update is needed, I hit ok, and it goes to the download screen, thats when the trouble starts. It downloads about 5% at most then my router turns off then on, restart for short I guess. Its rare that it actually download without any problems. I guess my question is: Why does my router restart everytime I try to update anything on the PS3?

Your router has a problem. Does it have the latest firmware update?
There is no way to know what the router's problem is without diagnosing it. It could be a million things.
Here is usually what is wrong, the router needs to be updated to the latest firmware update, and the router and modem need to be reset. This solves a lot of problems. If this doesn't solve the problem, then you have bigger problems and need to contact the router's manufacturer.
How to update the router firmware update: Go into your router settings on the computer and confirm it has the latest firmware update. See Owner's Manual or Manufacturer website if you do not know how to get into the router settings. You can usually get to your router settings by clicking on either of the following router IP addresses: http://192.168.0.1/ or http://192.168.0.0/
How to reset the modem and router: Unplug both the modem and router for at least 30 seconds. After a minimum of 30 seconds, plug the modem in. Once the modem has reset (lights stop flashing and it says ready, about 30 seconds), plug the router in. Once the router has reset (again lights will stop flashing, about 30 seconds), then try to do the game update again.
If you are still having router problems after doing this, then contact the manufacturer.

I can`t explain exactly why but try to use a wired connection. I'm pretty sure there will be no problems anymore.
