When you find out that someone is using your credit card number what are the first things you need to do?

I found someone was using my credit card over the Christmas holidays. I stopped the card after two charges of 39.95 was added on my card. They say it was by a man named Bob Jones out of England. The credit card company notified the three credit bureaus in the states. What else should I do and what else should I watch out for? My credit card limit and activity notification came in on my email, smartest thing I ever did . But what else can I do to protect myself.?????

Update:

Me and the card company called the company that took the charge over the internet. It was not done in person. They seem to only have my number and not my name. I think they keep the amount under 40.00 U.S. dollars to prevent a quick notification or approval. They don't have a card , at least I don't think they made one. Now what police to I report it to. I live in Greece, the card is American in dollars. I made one charge to England three months ago. It was on Amazon Ebay. Its the only place they could have gotten my number. Will not be using that again.

Update 2:

Card was never lost, some how some where they got my number.

How do they know his name was Bob Jones? If he was using your stolen credit card would he not sign your name? How stupid would retailers be if they accepted a woman's card from a man without asking for ID? So wouldn't Bob Jones have to get a woman to use your card? And she wouldn't sign her name as Bob Jones.

first thing you should do is call the Bank..

and ask them to block the card...

Report it to the police if you think its important(talk to this about the Bank Too)

Ask Them For A new Card Or You Could Change To another Bank...

    Get A new Card..or

    CHANGE YOUR PERSONAL IDENTIFICATION NUMBER...

And Change A Few Passwords like your online banking number..ETC ETC..

so where have you lost he card..

    Next time..

    TAKE CARE>>.

Its a nightmare - this happened to me - i stopped my card! thank goodness i was insured they spent a lot - i kept the statements showing all the spending so i could reconcile. I ended up having to apply for another card. Good luck! Having your cards linked to your cell phone are always good cos you not always on internet.
