Would the use of stem cells in research be classed as biotechnology?

Hi folks, Im studying ethics and one of the possible questions in my exam is about applying ethical thoughts to a topic in biotechnology Im thinking stem cells is a good one to write about but first I got to make sure stem cell research is classed as biotech and not cellular biology. Any help would be greatly appreciated

    Graham,

Yes, stem cell research may be classed as biotechnology. This is because it involves the application of (biology) science theories/postulations/facts.

Technology is the application of science. Therefore, biotechnology would be the biological application of science.
