Paper document to Word?
I have a printed document that was most likely made in word. i need to have it in word format again. is there a program out there that i can convert a PDF version of the printed document to Word or some other text format. its 128 pages long and i really don't want to have to retype this thing. we have a PDF scanner and every main document viewing program. i have heard of hand held scanners but i would prefer not to have to use one. i would think if they have that technology they would have some program to scan a picture for text and re type it. let me know and 10 points are yours.

There are Optical Character Recognition (OCR) programs that convert scanned images to Word documents. New scanners and all-in-one printers tend to come with one. Microsoft Office 2007 also seems to have one (Microsoft Document Imaging?).
But I have to warn you: OCR is an art, not a science. I can almost guarantee that you will have to fix:
1. Mis-converted fonts.
2. Mis-read characters (i for l, for instance, o, 0 or Q mixups)
3. Mangled layout.
The scanned document, as a Word file, may look nothing like the paper copy. Depending on the document’s layout, you might spend a lot of time getting it close to what the original looked like.
