Hey Hey R&P!!! Today is Monkees Day.. What is your favorite song by them?

Today is the birthday of two Monkees... Michael Nesmith born in 1942 and Davy Jones born in 1945

The Monkees were a pop rock quartet assembled by Robert "Bob" Rafelson and Bert Schneider in Los Angeles in 1966 for the American television series The Monkees, which aired from 1966 to 1968, and so were primarily in acting roles. The members were Americans Micky Dolenz, Michael Nesmith, Peter Tork, and Englishman Davy Jones, who were supervised and popularized by Don Kirshner.

Daydream Believer ( written by John Stewart)

At the time of the band's formation, its producers saw The Monkees as a Beatles-like band. At the start, the band members provided vocals, and were given some performing and production opportunities, but they eventually fought for and earned the right to collectively supervise all musical output under the band's name.

Shades of Gray

personally, my favorite Monkees project was the 1968 Film/soundtrack for "HEAD" a film in which they lay waste to thier whole "Monkees" image.. the film is a cult masterpiece co-written and produced by Jack Nicholson.

Happy Birthday to Davy & Michael.

    I'm most fond of:

    1. Pleasant Valley Sunday.

    2. Last Train To Clarksville.

    3. Daydream Believer.

I got to see The Monkees in concert a couple years ago & it was a small setting so it was a wonderfully cozy scene & they were fantastic.

Daydream Believer. Michael Nesmith's mother invented Liquid Paper and when she passed away in 1980 Michael inherited half of her 50 million dollar estate.

    Hi Punch.

Hmm. Kind of a tough call actually. I guess I'd probably say Randy Scouse Git or Circle Sky, but I'll always have a definite soft spot for Pleasant Valley Sunday.
