Should republican predictions of doom and gloom be trusted?

Republicans are constantly barraging this board with answers about how Obama and his spend thrift policies will result in economic collapse and doom. They intentionally scare business owners and employers with stories of disastrous tax increases and a waning economy.

Its clear that they believe they are either prophetic or incredibly intelligent to the point of being able to predict the future and warn us all about it. Given that, why were they so incredibly silent over the last 8 years as the country rolled into the economic abyss that their inaction resulted in?

Why didn't they warn us with doom and gloom scenarios, in the second term of Bush? Why keep us all in the dark until after the crash and then pretend to have foreknowledge of outcome?

Or are their claims of prophetic knowledge and intelligent foresight just a bunch of hot wind, not worth listening to, just like their past silence?

    No they shouldn't.

They were silent during the last 8 years, the only time they made themselves heard was to denounce various people who were pointing out these problems in the first place as traitors.

Now they want to claim that they knew it was going to happen.

Where were the Tea Parties when Bush was still in office?

Source(s): Independent Moderate Try as they might, this new "Anti-Obama" movement looks an awful lot like the old Bush Loyalists who betrayed him once the elections were over.

Folks - go and do some independent research and you will all realise that this has happened before Chinese naval units were able to navigate over the North Pole 1500 years ago because there was no ice Vikings lived on Greenland and had farms there - because there was no snow Romans had vinyards in England because it was warm enough. The greatest 'greenhouse gas' is WATER VAPOUR not CO2. A man expels more CO2 cycling to work then a car would produce. We NEED CO2 to keep this planet going - don't believe me? What would the plants breathe? You know, those things at the START of the food chain? Stop just listening to the Dogma. A true scientist ALWAYS looks upon things skeptically, it is the default position of all real scientists. Question what you are told, look up alternate ideas and make up your own mind. Figures produced have been manipulated to hide the inconvenient truth - the temperature has NOT risen significantly this century - this is evidenced by 'scientists' - NOT CLIMATOLOGISTS please note, now saying that the oceans are acting as a giant heat sink... except the oceans aren't actually getting any warmer. Don't believe me? Good. I am right, but go look up the evidence to try and prove me wrong - go do some research.

Since YOU are unaware of a conservative prediction that has ever been wrong, yes. Obviously.

Even OBAMA said Obama's policies will result in economic collapse (Janunary 2009)

Obama PROMISED tax increases and history has long-proved this causes a waning economy.

We PREDICTED the "economic abyss" as the natural outcome of "threatened" Democrat policies and announcements that WERE done - right before the collapse.

Later, we PREDICTED a modest recovery prior to the 2010 election cycle and we still predict an even deeper collapse to come.

We're 100% so far. That's WHY Democrats don't believe us. If you know who Paul Ehrlich is you are already aware that a "100% wrong" record is what makes you an "expert" in their eyes.

    Heck no.

Believe rather in the warnings of the EU governing council, which is on record as stating that the United States is on the road to hell.

Believe in the cautions coming from the last Socialist superpower on the planet, the People's Republic of China, warning against adopting socialism as a viable economic policy. Our governmental representatives are laughed at in China....by students.

Believe in members of the DEMOCRAT political party who are critical of the current path we are taking as a country. They are your own people, aren't they at least entitled to a little courtesy and their opinions heard?

Or do what you seem to relish doing....keep you eyes closed tight and your hands over your ears while you whine about what other people should have done to keep you from doing what you know is wrong today.

Best of luck with that. Care for more Kool-Aide to go with that "Hope'n'Change"?

Business decisions are made using the best tools of economics and finance theories. I doubt anyone makes successful decisions based on emotion. Obama's policies run counter to a lot of theories suggesting taxes and regulations are a deterrent to business.

Republicans have their eyes on the Mid Term Elections - all their hot air is directed to gaining congressional seats in November 2010.

    you mean like global warming?

anyway, as recently as 2007, republicans in congress, and even Bush himself, the liberal, actually warned the democrats about the banks. The democrats accused them of fear-mongering and creating doom and gloom scenarios. As it turns out, they were 100% right and the democrats 100% wrong.

Listen Chester, I know a thing or two about economics. I KNOW beyond reasonable debate that what Obama is doing is a recipe for disaster. YOU DO NOT SPEND YOUR WAY OUT OF A RECESSION! Throwing money at the problem is not the answer!

We are business owners and employers.

You are not and have no idea what it takes to make a profit and daily stops by some new board that wants to inspect something, so they can get another payment. You have no idea what the accounting and legal costs are involved with keeping up with tax codes and useless litigation.

If you had a basic grasp of economics you would understand what is going to happen. If you want to get an idea of what happens when a government throws around vast sums of money, google Zimbabwe economy.
