Former coach Leach put the kid in a locked storage shed the day after he was diagnosed with a concussion by the team doctor because he didn't believe the kid or, apparently the doctor.

He told his story and originally was honest enough to admit he was doing it to teach the kid a lesson. He was asked to apologize and didn't. Now he is lawyering up because he does realize that he screwed up BIG time.

Leach has called all the players girlfriends fat in print. He decided that Taylor Potts name wasn't masculine enough and changed it to Nick on his jersey.

When a player had the nerve to tweet about waiting for Leach, who was late for a meeting, Leach suspended the player and banned tweeting. Bobby Knight says that even he isn't as far over the edge as Leach.

Last spring he forced a player who missed a study table to sit in the stands at 30 degrees and do his work there.

This is WAAAY more than ONE allegation.

In this case, it has gotten a lot of attention. If dad had less power, this probably is another action Leach would have gotten brushed under the table.

Source(s): His actions listed above are the problem, not just the final straw. If the admin didn't want him he wouldn't have had a $13M contract for 5 years. They will now give him $1.6M over the next four years AND have to pay another coach. The decision was clear. It WAS done quickly because of the $800K.

Leach isn't the only solid coach who's obtainable. There''re are coaches waiting in the wings together with his ability. Texas Tech basically has to locate him. How do you already know James is a spoiled brat? people who made that declare won't repeat it in an affadvit for the courtroom. What does it count number besides? the youngster had a concussion, Leach positioned him in an electric closet for the time of prepare with orders to no longer enable him out. this is kidnapping. a federal criminal. If it ever befell to you you will know it greater advantageous. It shouldn't count number to absolutely everyone WHO stated it to the administration, James, his mothers and fathers, James' neighbor, the intern coach. Leach additionally did no longer appear at assembly together with his bosses. this is insubordination this is reason for termination. He screwed up. he's have been given no grounds for a lawsuit now. Termination for insubordination is in his settlement and Texas civil regulation acknowledges insubordination as grounds for termination. Leach is a narcissistic, egotistical, conceited martinet, packed with s**t of himself. If he hadn't caught Texas on a undesirable Saturday final 365 days, he could have been remembered as no longer something better than a mediocrity with a bag of schtick.

He has been on the rocks with university officials for a year and the bizarre statements he made to criticize the team earlier in the year did not help his cause. If the player was treated the way that's alleged, Leach should be wearing an orange jump suit and hammering on rocks for 12 hours a day.

ESPN used to love Leach's quirky behavior. He was ESPN's coaching renaisance man. It seemed like he was their favourite college coach next to Petey Carroll... but don't F with the ESPN staff.

Since the details are so scant I can't see what actual harm was done to the player or if Leach's actions were done with malice, as a joke, or as a homespun concussion treatment. Anyway concussion is the buzz word of the day so Leach was DOA when this hit the media.

Yes.It's time the whole state stop sacrificing it's young to the football god. Seems to me Leach counted on peer pressure to silence his critics. You can fool some......all the time.

It was a totally knee jerk politically correct decision. No one has said he endangered the player.

But the fact is, the administration did not like Mike Leach. Now they can hire someone they like and in 3 years fire him for not winning. Leach is a splendid coach and an excellent recruiter. TTU will regret this move.

little punk should of took it like a man...boo hoo I was locked in a closet...POS Craig James was reacting as if his son was a POW locked in a **** hole with no food or water....don't question your general..just follow orders cause I doubt Leach, who knows the law (he has a law degree), would endanger this little sissy girl of a football player

I don't know much about head injuries so excuse me if I seem cold when I write this but why, WHY, would a coach endanger this kid knowing who his father was...it makes no sense

is it possible for a coach to be fired over a spoiled player who doesn't get what he wants

What is the real purpose of ESPN??!?!?!?!?!? really?!?!?!

TT just lost the best thing going for them
