You could just ask the friend from whom you borrowed it.

If that's not possible though, to change the WEP or WPA passphrase, please log into the web interface to your router firmware by typing the IP address of the router into the addressbar of your web browser and hitting the <enter> key. Enter your administrative username and password. Once you have logged in, you can change the WEP or WPA key to a new one.

Note that if you do not know the IP address of your router and you do not have an instruction manual, you can find it easily if you have access to a properly configured computer on the network. You can just grab the address (default gateway) off of one of those machines. If you don't have any machines that are connected and properly configured at all though, then either read the instruction manual PDF available at the manufacturer's website or just try some random addresses in private address space, such as http://192.168.1.1/ http://192.168.0.1/ http://192.168.0.254/ and http://192.168.1.254/

If, however, you don't know the WEP/WPA key *or* the administrative username and password, then you will have no choice but to restore the router to factory settings and come up with a new username, new password and new passphrase. Once you've done this, you can then set a new WEP or WPA key as well. Remember to save your settings when finished.

You will have to ask your friend for the WEP key. The only other thing you could do is reset the device to its factory state. You would have to get the manual to know how to do that.

Step 1 In your address bar type 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.0.1 .. Some routers may have a default ip of something like 10.0.0.1. Check your routers manual or google your router to find the default ip if necessary.

Step 2 You may be prompted for a password. The default username and password are - username: admin and password: admin or passwordYou should now have the setup screen for your router. Go to the wireless tab (or wireless settings) and you should see your WEP key.

Step 3 If you need to find the WEP key for your PSP (or other gaming console) go to www.download.com. In the search box enter "web key." Then scroll down to "wirelesswepkeyview 1.16" and click on it. Click download now. Once downloaded, right click and select extract. Open the file and click on the picture that has a key on it. You'll then see all the nearby wireless networks along with the wep key for your modem.
