First off, are you using the 32-bit or 64-bit version? When I tried to install the 64-bit version, I had problems with a crackling soundcard and similar issues comparable to you as the drivers by outside companies haven't been perfected yet. So I went back to using the 32-bit version of Windows 7.
Secondly, you might want to download a useful little utility program called Tune-Up utilites. It works wonders for clearing errors, cleaning things up, checking for possible issues than can be hampering your performance. See below for the link. It is custom for Windows 7 and solved a lot of my problems with the O.S. Good luck!

I know exactly what you mean
i have the same problem with the sound
whilst trying to listen or watch short videos on-line.
i have been told it is a problem with my old sound card and the drivers it needs to work,
but i have my doubts,
i think it is something wrong with windows 7.
also ie8 constantly eats up the ram up to the point where it has to close because there is no more ram left to run it.

Boost your onboard ram and you will probably see a difference. Your ready boost doesn't mean anything.
